Madison, Illinois –  Gateway Motorsports Park kicked off the 2013 Championship Season with the first scheduled E.T. bracket event of the season.  Eliminations were held in seven categories that were run in conjunction with the NHRA Spring Sportsman National Open and Jeg’s Super Quick event.
The day began with Cassie Green taking the win in Jr. Dragster Thunder (for kids ages 8-12) while sister Mikayla Greene helped haul another trophy back to Lawson, Missouri by taking the win in Jr. Dragster Lightning (for kids 13-17).  The event marked the first of eight races for the Jr. Dragster competitors with the best seven finishes counting toward the title.  The next scheduled event for Jr. Dragsters will be held on Saturday, May 11.
Five winners were crowned in the adult racing categories that marked the first of ten bracket races, with a racer’s best 8 finishes counting toward title,  that make up the 2013 Championship.    Led Lipka of O’Fallon, Missouri took home $350 for his win in Sportsman. Janie Palm of Bunker Hill, Illinois won $175 for Street Motorcycle while Chad Isley of Charleston, Illinois won $150 for Super Pro Bike.  In Pro E.T. Clay Tyler marched through the field to haul $1,000 to Bethalto, Illinois and, in the final of the night, Corey Landolt from Herman, Missouri collected $1,200 for his win in Super Pro.
The next points races for Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and the motorcycle classes will be held on Saturday, April 27 in conjunction with the debut of the new Mickey Thompson Tires Shootout Series.
