April 2 —  The Gateway Kartplex, located in the infield of the superspeedway at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Illinois, hosted the first Ignite and SuperComp Series races of the 2017 season on April 1 and 2.

 

IGNITE RACE NO. 1 — SATURDAY, APRIL 1

KID KART HONDA — 8 laps: 1. Lane Myer (Arnold, Missouri), 2. Race Beckman (Fenton, Missouri), 3. Conner Strohm (Wildwood, Missouri), 4. Quinn Ahrens.

IGNITE ROOKIE — 15 laps: 1. Cam Myers (Springfield, Missouri), Carter Pryor (Caseyville, Illinois), 3. Jaiden Beckman (Fenton, Missouri), 4. Austin Todtenhaupt, 5. Rachel Fasching.

KID KART — 10 laps: 1. Race Beckman.

 

4-CYCLE JUNIOR TaG 60 — 15 laps: 1. Evan Stamer, 2. Spike Kohlbecker, 3. Gage Rucker.

Race: Stamer led from start to finish.

 

4-CYCLE ROOKIE — 15 laps: 1. Carter Pryor, 2. Jaden Beckman, 3. Evan Zarbo.

Race: Cam Myers led the first 7 laps. Evan Zarbo, who started third, took the lead on lap 8 but tangled with Myers on the next lap and both karts left the course. Carter Pryor then took the lead and Zarbo charged back up to third place.

TaG SENIOR/OPEN — 15 laps: 1. Derek Brown, 2. Cowboy Lamar Humphries.

Race: Derek Bryant won from the pole position. Jon Vernier ran a close third for 10 laps until forced to retire with mechanical problems.

 

4-CYCLE SENIOR — 15 laps: 1. Grant Palmer, 2. Pete Vetter, 3. Bob Cacioppo.

 

YAMAHA JUNIOR — 15 laps: 1. Evan Stamer, 2. Spike Kohlbecker, 3. Gage Rucker.

Race: Stamer led from start to finish.

 

BRIGGS JUNIOR – 1. Spike Kohlbecker, 2. Gage Rucker, 3. Evan Stamer.

 

BRIGGS SENIOR – 1. Nick Todtenhaupt, 2. Ryan Bettenhausen, 3. Eric Loddeke.

Race: Defending champion Nick Todtenhaupt led all 15 laps.
