The bracket racing format allows drivers in many types of vehicles, including dragsters, roadsters, sedans, and coupes, to compete on an equal basis against each other. In addition to three categories of competition for cars, a motorcycle category is featured. Racers compete for points and cash awards. Drivers who earn the most points are eligible to compete for individual and team honors at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

If you were not at Gateway Motorsports Park to hear the THUNDER this year, be sure you make it September 27–29 2013 to see the LIGHTNING strike! Antron Brown raced to his sixth Top Fuel victory of the season Sunday, September 30 2012 at the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park. Jack Beckman (Funny Car), Erica Enders (Pro Stock) and Eddie Krawiec (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were winners of the event, the first race for NHRA in the St. Louis area in over two years.
Brown defeated championship rival Spencer Massey in the final round and moved 21 points ahead of Massey. Brown, who battled side-by-side with Massey all weekend, took the victory with a final round performance of 3.766 seconds at 325.22 mph in his Matco Tools/Aaron’s dragster, while Massey trailed with a 3.812 at 324.05 in his FRAM/Prestone dragster. Brown beat Bruce Litton, Steve Torrence and Brandon Bernstein in early rounds before unleashing his quickest run of the day in the final against Massey.
Beckman moved to within 30 points of Funny Car points leader Ron Capps by racing to his third victory of the season. He took the final round win in his Valvoline NextGen Dodge Charger over Matt Hagan, in his DieHard Dodge Charger.
In Pro Stock, Enders earned her fourth victory of the season and first ever in the playoffs by using a reaction time advantage to defeat series points leader Allen Johnson in the final round. She powered her GK Motorsports Chevy Cobalt to a 6.540 at 211.79 to finish just inches in front of Johnson’s Team Mopar Dodge Avenger, who posted a quicker, but losing run of 6.538 at 212.13.
Krawiec claimed his seventh Pro Stock Motorcycle victory of the season and increased his points lead to 33 over his final round opponent and teammate, Andrew Hines. Krawiec took his 18th career victory when Hines fouled on his identically-prepared Screamin’ Eagle Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson.
Krawiec took three of his round wins via red-light starts by his opponents, including his first round win over Steve Johnson and second round win over Chip Ellis. Krawiec used a strong performance on his Screamin’ Eagle Harley-Davidson to outrun Hector Arana Sr.’s Lucas Oil Buell in the semifinals.
Coughlin outran Danny Rowe in the final round to score his first career victory in the high-horsepower doorslammer category and move to third in the points standings with only one race remaining in the NHRA Pro Mod season. Coughlin powered his turbocharged JEGS.com ’68 Camaro to a final round performance of 5.873 seconds at 257.58 mph to take the victory over Rowe.

The Porsche Club of America celebrates the finer things in life. We desire the comfort of good friends and good conversation, and we praise to a fault the world’s finest automobile. With those attributes, our club has grown to 139 Regions throughout the United States and Canada. The St. Louis Region of The Porsche Club of America is part of PCA Zone 10. The majority of our members reside in the St. Louis Metropolitan area including Central Missouri and Southern Illinois. To become a member you must first join the national Porsche Club of America. Racer “NEED TO KNOW” Info:
- Racers wanting a .4 Pro Tree must go to lane 3 during the evening. Please put a “PT” on your front window so our staging lane staff can identify you.
- Battle of the Bikes – Gateway Motorsports Park will present a trophy for the quickest (best elapsed time), fastest (biggest mile per hour) and best reaction time during the 10 p.m. ‘Battle of the Bikes Showdown’ pass. Only the 10 p.m. session will count toward the award. Battle of the Bikes will be featured each week. This week it will be contested on a .4 Pro Tree. It may change for the next one!
- Eliminations – 2 elimination categories will be contested. ¼ mile Trophy is open to any car, bike or truck (an additional charge of $5 per entry to compete). Bracket Gambler is $20 to enter (pay in staging) with a 100% payback to the winner. Gambler will be contested on the 1/8 mile.

Gateway Motorsports Park is THE place to be on Friday night with Midnight Madness. Get your car off the street and on to our nationally-sanctioned drag strip with street-legal drag racing or drifting until 2:00 AM. You can compete against your friends, show off what your car has in it, watch the Battle of the Boards racers, dance to the music, or just hang out with the crowd.

Rusty Wallace Racing Experience provides fans and racing enthusiasts with an authentic NASCAR racing experience. Drive a real, current stock car with a real NASCAR champion. This is your chance to lose that yellow rookie stripe. Climb in, buckle up and ride shotgun in a NASCAR stock car driven by a professional instructor for a 3-lap qualifying run. This is the ride of a lifetime, you are riding shotgun in a real NASCAR Sprint Cup car. There’s a TRD Race Motor under the hood that has previously competed in a NASCAR race.
