After co-hosting an event at VIR (Virginia International Raceway) with Look-Out Drift and Clubloose, we realized that our well-organized events needed to be shared with the whole of the Midwest. And at the end of 2009, the Midwest Drift Union was formed. With four years of running sold-out Drift Indy events in Indianapolis, we’ve put that experience to use organizing our Midwest Drift Union in 2010 as a Formula D ProAM Series. We’re striving to have a series that will allow the best in the region to drive together, compete, and have fun sharing in the passion of drifting. Our goal is to provide a platform that will allow veteran drivers the opportunity to make it to the next level (Formula D), to give new drivers the seat time they need, and to provide a whole lot of entertainment along the way! Our events are ran so that each driver will be able to run out of tires before the day’s out. We’re all about practice, building better drivers, and having fun with the sport of Drifting!

Super Pro racers – The tentative plan is to run each color group down to four or less before combining the four classes. However, that may be adjusted due to car counts per group to provide the fairest race possible. Determination will be made following round 1 of eliminations. Listen to the public address system for up-to-the-minute information. (Please note that we made a color adjustment on the tech card color due to a change that is taking place in our tech card style).
Pro racers – This is our first time running your category along with Megabucks. For this event we are going with a traditional program of one race entry but are providing the opportunity to do first or second round buybacks (you can only buyback once). We will evaluate the event and make our decision on the fall Megabucks event in the near future.
Note to all… Thank you for supporting this weekend’s event. With the rain, snow and everything else that has been going on it is appreciated. We also appreciate your patience with last week’s timeslip glitch that inconvenienced a lot of you. We’re committed to providing you with the best racing experience possible and from time-to-time bumps will be encountered and mistakes will be made. As time progresses we hope to smooth out the bumps and limit the mistakes.
One of our main priorities is to build the October 3-6 MegaBucks event into not just another big event, but make it a HUGE event. In the days ahead we will be preparing the event promotional materials and will be giving you additional information about what’s to come.

Gateway Bracket Racer Information
Gateway Motorsports Park classes to be contested at this event are Super Pro (1/4), Pro (1/4), Sportsman (1/4), Street Motorcycle (1/4), Super Pro Motorcycle (1/4) and two classes of bonus 1/8 mile races. Jr. Dragsters are not scheduled at this event.
Sportsman Racers – Due to a programming error at Bracket Race #1, all Sportsman racers were charged an additional $10 above the normal $40 entry. We will have a credit list at the buyback and all racers will be issued a $10 buyback credit that will apply until such time that they use it. If you make it all year long without losing round 1 then you will not only get your $10 back, but you will get your special award. We apologize for the error.
To make a clarification – Provisional first round bye is based on reaction time from round 1. The provisional bye for each additional round until we ladder (at 8 or less) is based on reaction time. The ladder is based on closest to dial from the round prior to the ladder. We made an error at the first race because of the drama from the timeslip debacle and the guys running the race thinking that they were at a track in another timezone that did it differently.
Schedule – Sunday is held as a potential rain date/make-up date for both the Mickey Thompson Series and the Gateway Bracket Series. One of the reasons we set the program up this year to give a racer some throw out races was in the event that a race had to be rescheduled. Hopefully this isn’t an issue and the entire program is completed as scheduled.
Points – if you want to retain the points you earned at Bracket Race #1 and race #2, you must sign-up for points by the completion of the event this Saturday night. Otherwise those points will be scratched and you will have to start with a zero once you do sign-up. This is the last call for the two race grace period.
Mickey Thompson Racer Information
The open shakedown session on Saturday is for cars that didn’t attempt to qualify on Friday. It is for new arrivals only. We will have an optional 4th round of qualifying on Saturday that may be scrubbed if needed due to incoming weather or incidents on the track that may put us behind schedule. All qualifying will use alternate lanes for each pass except for round #4. The final, optional round of qualifying will be run in pairs only and will be paired in the staging lanes and sent on side-by-side runs.
Again, depending on the schedule, there’s a very good chance that round #4 may be dropped due to weather.
Our mission is to do whatever it takes to complete our program, in a timely manner, on Saturday evening to accommodate the racers and fans who are joining us.
Payouts
All payouts will take place in the tower and will begin approximately 15 minutes following the conclusion of eliminations. We do not pay out until the race is deemed complete and we’ve had the opportunity to cut the check.
If you are unable to wait until the payout window opens, please drop off a valid W-9 with your mailing address attached. The checks will then be mailed on Monday following the event.
Dial-Ins
Please make sure your car number and dial-in are properly displayed on the rear window –or- facing toward the back of your car. The clock operator can only see the rear of your car once you pull out from under the tower.

Racer “NEED TO KNOW” Info:
Gateway Motorsports Park is launching a show car and racing program in 2013 to be named, The Manufacturer Series. It consists of four separate, but connected events. The first event, scheduled for May 17–19, will be the highly anticipated Mega Mopar Weekend At Gateway, part of the Mega Mopar Action Series. Following this event will be the Super Chevy Show presented by your Mid-America Chevy Dealers on June 21–23. The Fun Ford Weekend will run July 19–21. Finally, an all make and model inclusive final called the All American Hot Rod Showdown presented by your Mid-America Chevy Dealers will be held August 9–11. At the All American Hot Rod Showdown, all past series winners and champions will compete for the coveted Gateway Grand Champion title. Grand Champions will be crowned in the show car and drag racing arenas.
Each event will feature a car show, swap meet, drag racing, car corral, auto cross, manufacturer midway, ride and drive, and featured shows such as jet cars and more. All four events will tie together with individual competitions for prizes, awards and payouts as we have traditionally seen at the track. “The unique thing that we are doing next year is bringing everything together,” says Francois. It will be exciting to follow the car show and drag competition finalists and semi-finalists throughout the season as they attempt to qualify for the All American Grand Championship Title in August.”
Car show winners from each class of the previous shows will compete for the All American titles in Custom, Modified, and Stock classes with an overall American Grand Champion being crowned and a cash prize exceeding $2,500. Finalists and semi–finalist in Box, No Box, Sportsman, and True Street categories from all three events will compete for the All American Championship Titles within their respective classes and then compete against each other for The All American Grand Championship Title and payout exceeding $5,000.
Other American makes and models such as Buick, Cadillac Oldsmobile, and Pontiac will also be able to compete with a chance to win the All American Hot Rod Showdown presented by your Mid-America Chevy Dealers. A portion of the proceeds from each of the events will be donated to selected charities.
The Mega Mopar Action series has shown the largest growth for the 2013 season, adding five new tracks to the name sake series of Mopar Action Magazine. New markets for the Mega Mopar Action series include the season opener at Rockingham Dragway on April 6, followed by visits to Gateway Motorsports Park St. Louis on May 17-19th, Edmonton, Palm Beach, and the season ending event at Bakersfield on October 5‐6.
There will be two Nostalgia Super Stock portions of the event. Both will be produced under the authority of the Nostalgia Super Stocks Inc. club.
The first will be the club’s traditional ‘heads-up’ match race’ exhibition show, managed by club vice president Rich Berlisk. This portion will be open to club members only.
The second will be an open style index race, managed by club member Bob Wilkiewicz.
The index race will contested under The Nostalgia Super Stock National Association/National Muscle Car Association standard national rules. The format will be NMCA standard; time trials on Friday, qualifying against the index on Saturday and then eliminations on Sunday.
The purse will be announced closer to the time of the event (xxxx total, including xxxx to win, xxxx runner-up, xxxxx to the eliminated semi finalists and (optional) xxx to the eliminated quarter finalists).
This index race will be open to anyone with a NSSNA/NMCA national rules legal car.
However, any club member who chooses to run in the index race will not be allowed to participate in the heads-up match race portion, no exceptions. To be clear, there will be two completely separated NSS portions, absolutely no ‘double-dipping’ allowed.
