The point races are heating up and the prizes keep getting better as the season winds down and our team prepares for the 2013 E.T. Finals.
Coming up on Saturday, August 10 is Bracket Point Race #9 in conjunction with the All-American Hot Rod Showdown and Mickey Thompson Tire Series. Along with a full-slate of bracket racing for Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Pro Motorcycle and Street Motorcycle, the series will be joined by both Jr. Dragster classes and the heads-up action of the Mickey Thompson Tire Series. As bracket eliminations begin to wind-down, they will be joined under the lights for the first ever Night of Thunder and Fire with the first Gateway appearance of the the Lucas Oil Terminal Velocity and MAV-TV Missile Jet Dragsters.
On Sunday, August 11, the Summer Super Bucks Sunday features a full-slate of bracket racing with a possible $5,000 to win for Super Pro, $2,000 to win for Pro and $300 to win for Sportsman as the feature of the All-American Hot Rod Showdown Grand Championship. Racers who won their Sunday categories at either the Mega Mopar, Super Chevy or Fun Ford will receive their free Golden Ticket entry into the run-off for their respective classes. Racers who did not win can still hop in the show and a chance at the big money for $150 for Super Pro and $80 for Pro. Multiple entries are available so racers can double their chances at winning the big money. At the end of the day the winners from the Super Pro, Pro and Sportsman classes will face-off for the NHRA National Dragster Challenge Hot Rod Class trophy.
The series concludes on Saturday, August 24 with points race #10 of the 2013 season. The NHRA King of the Track event has moved to the final race of the season to give all racers in all categories a shot at the King of the Track title. Following a full day of racing, the winners from the Pro Bike/Street Bike run-off will face off against the class winners in Super Pro, Pro and Sportsman. The event winner receives the King of the Track title as well as a prize pack from Lucas Oil and K&N Filters. All Racers winning their respective class on Saturday, August 24 will receive a K&N Filters product prize.

2014 PLANNING UNDERWAY FOR GATEWAY BRACKET, HIGH SCHOOL & JR. PROGRAMS
2014 PLANNING UNDERWAY FOR GATEWAY MOTORSPORTS PARK BRACKET, HIGH SCHOOL AND JR. PROGRAMS
As of August 3, 2013:ATTENTION RACERS- We are currently making our plans for 2014, developing schedule options and talking to our advisory panel regarding the 2014 season. Our goal is to have the majority of our program confirmed by early October so we can get started earlier on the registration process. We want you to know exactly how your program will be run for 2014 by the time Thanksgiving rolls around. This also provides us with adequate time to work on our sponsorship programs at the year-end trade shows such as SEMA and PRI/IMIS.
Here’s what we can tell you so far…
-The 2014 season will consist of approximately 10 point races with 2 throw-out events.
-The King of the Track will take on a new look and feel… the 2014 run-off will have the 2013 track champions in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Pro/Street Bike facing off against the winners of a mid-season “wild card” race to determine the title of “King of the Track”.
-The point season will conclude with the National Dragster Challenge as part of the final point race.
-We are currently attempting to secure a contingency program for each class as well as individual class sponsorships and an overall series sponsor.
-We will be distributing a survey form that will ask for information regarding other potential programs, race enhancements, programs, etc.
The reason we are telling you this now is because we want to review the information while it is still underway and analyze each and every event.
We appreciate everyone who has supported us this year as we’ve had to make multiple changes to the program in order to make things work effectively. Our goal for 2014 is to provide you with a solid schedule and consistency across the board. It’s a work in progress but we want you to know that we are making that a top priority for Gateway Motorsports Park.

Pro ‘Time only Testing” $100 Testing and license runs for non-competing classes . No that is not
a typo…it’s $100. We don’t want hundreds of cars testing that may oil the track, chew up the start line and cause a back-up in staging that delays the bracket program. This is reserved for up to 10 racers who need good testing/license conditions. Racers should call Tony Spatola in advance to make him aware that they are coming (618-215-8888 ext. 109).
Restricted Area Access: Restricted area includes the area in front of the tower, the return road, the ‘short chute’ and the starting line area. Anyone not having a restricted area wristband will be directed to the grandstands. This will apply at all Gateway Motorsports Park events.
Payouts: All payouts will take place in the tower and will begin approximately 15 minutes following the conclusion of eliminations. We do not pay out until the race is deemed complete and we’ve had the opportunity to cut the check. All payouts are based on the actual number of racers participating in round 1 of eliminations.
Dial-Ins: Please make sure your car number and dial-in are properly displayed on the rear window –or- facing toward the back of your car. The clock operator can only see the rear of your car once you pull out from under the tower.
Public Address; Please listen to the Public Address on 92.7 FM on your radio dial!
Common Sense Reminder: While not a problem at most bracket events, we would like to remind everyone that dry launches and burnouts are not permitted in the pit areas. If you must warm up your car please do so along the return road and away from pit and spectator areas. Please adhere to 15 mile-per-hour pit area speed limits. Do not warm up while Jr. Dragster participants are racing.
Bonus Race Participants: If you elect only to compete in the 1/8 mile bonus classes you do not receive a separate time trial run. If you are a box entrant you can time trial when Super Pro makes its ¼ mile pass. If you are a no-box entrant you can time trial when Pro makes its ¼ mile pass.
This week’s Bonus Race: Since we are having an earlier start time due to the King of the Track Run-Off tonight, we will offer buybacks in the 1/8 mile bonus races. Here’s this week’s payout structure:
Entry Fee: $50 Payout will be 100% of bonus race entry fees for first round.
Buybacks: $30 Track retains buyback.
100% Payout: 50% winner / $20% runner-Up / 10% semi / 2.5% qtr
Percentages will be adjusted for odd semi’s and qtrs..
